Victim(s): George "Teddy" Rivera
George “Teddy” Rivera, a cook at Emeril’s Orlando at CityWalk, made money on his days off cooking at a south Orlando truck stop. The cashier there was Michelle Rosado, the owner’s wife, a 37-year-old blonde with a flashy silver Camaro. They fell in love. The owner, Manuel Ayala, 40, found out about it and tried to stop it.
There was a fist fight. Manuel offered to pay Teddy to leave town, but Teddy said no. In early January 2011, Teddy was last seen on the afternoon of his 44th birthday being led from his Orange County home by two men dressed in black with “SECURITY” printed on their shirts. Hours after his disappearance, he was supposed to have had a 4 p.m. assignation with his lover, followed by a 6 p.m. party with his wife and three young daughters.
His wife and his mistress both reported him missing a day later, on January 10, 2011. That day, Teddy’s body turned up near Sweet Pea Court, a street in Poinciana not far from where Michelle and Manuel, her now-estranged husband, lived with their children. “It started out as an inappropriate relationship but ended up a deadly love affair,” police said.
Manuel, known as “Big Chef” for his 300-pound-plus frame, and Michelle were married for about 20 years. The couple had a violent relationship which resulted in his arrest on domestic violence charges in 1994, and an order of protection in November. In that document, Michelle wrote that he had been threatening to kill her if their marriage was over. “He is getting more aggressive by the minute,” she wrote. “When I was sleeping he started walking around my bed with gun in hand and clicking the gun. Every second that passed I thought my life was over.”
On January 4, Manuel discovered his wife and Teddy were having an affair when he saw them in the silver Camaro together. Manuel called Michelle on her cell phone and told her to pull over. When she stopped the car, Manuel beat Teddy with his fists before letting the couple leave. Then, Manuel called again and Michelle pulled over a second time. That’s when Manuel offered Teddy money to leave Florida and leave his wife alone, which Teddy declined.
