Full Name:  MIchael Lee Juranek
DOB:  June 24, 1949
Charge:  1st degree murder
County:  Douglas
City:  Omaha
Current Status:   Tecumseh State Correctional Institution
Date of Crime:  September 14, 2011
Victim:  Jimmy McBride

Michael Juranek was found guilty of first degree murder for fatally stabbing 52-year old Jimmy McBride on September 14, 2011, in south Omaha.  Officers say that Michael and Jimmy had gotten into a fight.  The men shared an Omaha house for a time, but were evicted and were living on the streets.

Omaha police spotted Michael shortly after the stabbing and shouted to get his attention, but didn't pull in front of him or order him to stop.  Michael then turned around and said, "He threatened me so I struck him."

Michael apparently talked to himself while seated in the back of the police cruiser, saying that he "stuck him once," and wanted to kill him.  When police later asked whether he was willing to share information, Michael admitted on a recording that he stabbed Jimmy and then said, "I'm guilty."
