A young phosphate laborer was charged with the shooting deaths of three men gunned down in three separate towns during a 15-day span. Police identified Larry Gene Anderson, 18, as the shooter. Larry was charged with killing Jack Brooks, 63, of Eloise on July 2, 1970; LaVon Aikens, 17, of Fort Pierce on July 15; and James Knight, 52, of Bartow on July 17.
Police believed the motive in all three incidents was robbery. All three victims were shot twice in the head and all their wallets were emptied.
