Paul Jarrett, 82, and Gregg Jarrett, 47, father and son, were fatally shot as they slept at their Coral Gables home on July 16, 2003. Juan Carlos Fernandez, 45, and Jose Barco broke into the home to retrieve a letter that proved Juan’s then-girlfriend, Maria Catabay, had stolen money from the doctor. She had been Dr. Paul Jarrett’s office manager.
Dr. Paul Jarrett, at 82, was still cracking jokes, running marathons, walking every morning to see the sunrise over Biscayne Bay before heading to his psychiatry office. His son, Gregg, went on fishing vacations, cared for his own son and was embarking on a second career as a registered nurse.
