Dale E. Barriffe Jr., 23, was found guilty of second-degree murder. Dale was the passenger on a motor scooter on September 21, 2009, when he opened fire with a revolver on Terence Lamar Sallins Jr., 23, on Clyde Drive near Oakleaf in Jacksonville. The scooter turned around and approached Terence once more with Dale firing again.
Joseph Arnold Thomas, 17, the scooter’s driver, became state’s evidence after pleading guilty as a co-defending in Terence’s murder on the eve of his own trial. Joseph had more motivation in the attack because Terence had snatched a $1,200 necklace from him shortly before the killing.
