Richard Griswold, 43, has been found guilty in the fatal shooting of a woman in November. Richard admitted to shooting Connie Eacret, 49, at her home in Beatrice. Connie was trying to prevent Richard from killing himself when she was shot. Richard fired the gun several times before fatally wounding Connie.
The 911 call, made by Richard at 5:16 AM on November 17, contained the voice of an emotional Richard as he told police he shot his girlfriend and placed the gun on the table. Richard said that he and Connie had an argument but couldn't remember what it was fully about except it was about "boyfriends, girlfriends, and sex."
The autopsy stated she died of a single gunshot wound to the right eye at close range. An assortment of people who knew Richard and Connie, including Richard's mother, Judy Cleveland, and an ex-girlfriend, Patricia Bartels, were called to the stand. Judy received two calls from Connie that morning. Each call asked Judy to come and get Richard, but she refused, telling her to call the police.
