Full Name:  Andrea Morris
DOB:  December 16, 1975
Charge:  2nd degree murder
County:  Polk
City:  Des Moines
Current Status:  Iowa Correctional Institution for Women
Date of Crime:  October 16, 1999
Tentative Discharge Date:  November 16, 2056
Victims:  Patrick McRae

A former Nebraska stripper was convicted of killing her client at his Des Moines home during a private dance.  Andrea Morris, 30, will spend approximately 60 years in prison for stabbing 43-year-old Patrick McRae on October 16, 1999.  She was arrested in 2005 after her former boyfriend and self-described pimp told authorities Andrea left the crime scene covered in blood.

DNA-tested blood indicated that an unidentified woman had been in Patrick's home, but it was not until 2004 that Andrea's former boyfriend, Nebraska drug dealer Mars Davis, told authorities that his former lover had stabbed Patrick "because the voices told her to."  Mars testified that he dropped Andrea off for the private dance and returned 45 minutes later.  He and Andrea were driving away, Mars said, when he noticed she was covered in blood.  Andrea testified that Mars killed the man because Patrick refused to stop kissing her during the dance.  Andrea said she kept silent because "I didn't want to be the one to send Mars back to prison."

Prosecutors criticized Andrea's version of the crime, which involves Patrick chasing her, then Andrea retreating from the front door to hide briefly in a closet.  They said the story is not supported by physical evidence, noting that police found Andrea's DNA in drops of blood on a bedspread and on a toothpaste dispenser.  Prosecutors also noted a series of bloody footprints that appeared to have been made by Andrea's boots in the house and on an outside deck.  The police have discovered Patrick's blood in Andrea's Ford Bronco, which was located in New Orleans for more than five years after the slaying.
