Lucas Peterson, 22, of Pleasant Dale, originally from Bee, will serve time for the manslaughter death of his infant daughter, Trista, in 2007. Trista was reported missing on January 4, 2007.
Authorities were dispatched January 30, to do a welfare check at Lucas's home. They were unable to locate Lucas or Trista. On April 12, Lucas led investigators to an area in Butler County where the body of the infant was believed to be buried. He physically took authorities to the site. Trista's little body was located in a neighboring county in a shallow grave in a grove of cedar trees on an abandoned farmstead three miles south of Highway 92 off of County Road P in Butler County.
Tragedy took shape in 2007 with Trista's mother, Jennifer Williams, in prison on a bad-check charge and with admitted drug user Lucas in charge of her care. An autopsy revealed the severe blunt force trauma to the head, trunk and neck ended the life of his daughter after only 11 months.
