Sharon Sydness, 60, was shot to death in Des Moines by Carroll Sydness, 58, her husband. Sharon had talked with Carooll about ending the marriage. They argued on the day of the murder and she left home. When she returned hours later, Carroll shot her to death. He went to jail the next morning after turning himself in. He was convicted of first-degree murder.
